Wizard Lock & Safe was founded by Chester Gontner, a man who discovered a passion for locksmithing as a hobby before turning it into a livelihood. When his hardware business closed during the Great Depression, he opened a locksmith shop in Lancaster and built something that would last for generations.

Today, Wizard Lock & Safe is the oldest locksmith company in Lancaster County—and still going strong.

In 2008, longtime employees Karen Williams and Todd Henning purchased the business from Chester’s son, Chet Gontner. These weren’t outsiders who inherited a name. They were the people who had already been showing up and doing the work for decades.

Todd Henning

As a dedicated lock and safe specialist with over 40 years of hands-on experience, Todd has been perfecting his craft since starting at age 18 in 1985.

Since joining Wizard Lock & Safe in 1983, Karen has accumulated four decades of in-depth knowledge, navigating the locksmith industry through its many changes.
